GET MOVING!
Turn the page, twirl the dial, pull the tab, lift the flap.
The first known movable book was created around 1240 by a Benedictine monk in Paris. Since that first inclusion of a moveable component in a book pull tabs, pop-ups and volvelles are routinely used in book structures. Contemporary makers of artists' books use them to bring attention to such topics as LGBTQ life, global warming, natural science, social justice and so much more.
